Things my hometown is known for.

When I was growing up I tended to think that my hometown, Mechanicsburg, PA, was just about the most ordinary place on Earth. A short jaunt through Wikipedia shows otherwise.

Mechanicsburg:

– is the furthest northern point the Confederate States Army occupied during the American Civil War.

– is the home of Jubilee Day, the largest one day street fair on the American East Coast. It is estimated as many as 60,000 people attend Jubilee Day annually.

– is also the hometown of Bret Michaels, ‘Poison’ lead singer.

– has the main offices and distribution center for the Book of the Month Club.

Not bad for a medium-sized town with less than ten thousand people.
